This increasing health of the Society also manifested itself in the considerable support given to the annual coach outing in the summer months. Each year arrangements were made to visit a famous garden. This event also required a certain amount of organisation. The start must not be too early, there must be a convenient place en route for a coffee break in mid morning. The garden to be visited must be within range of somewhere where lunch could be taken. The return journey must permit a stop for afternoon tea (if possible with scones and cream), and the return to the village must not be too late. To fit all this to a famous and worthwhile garden is not all that easy. All the same some wonderful gardens have been visited and members have enjoyed some happy days. |
