The bus is affectionately nicknamed “Bluey”. Bluey is a 16 seat Mercedes Benz mini-bus, acquired new in 2008. The bus has been built to a high specification, including air-conditioning, and is fully accessible for use by disabled people.

Bluey and a trained driver can be hired by local groups. The service is directed towards those who, through reasons such as disability or age, may be prevented from using other means of transport. However, the vehicle is also available for social trips, events and sporting occasions.

Congresbury Community Transport is run as a non-profit making charity and is staffed entirely by un-paid volunteers. This enables running costs and, therefore, hire charges to be kept at a minimum.

For information on booking Bluey, or indeed on how to become involved with CCT as a driver or helper, please contact Mike Rendu on:

Policies

Membership

The Purpose and Nature of Membership

Membership entitles the individual to play a part in steering the ethos and development of CCT and in advising on its modes of operation.

Members will be individuals who are closely involved in the leadership or operation of CCT, or people who have a clear stake in its success.

Rights and Responsibilities of Members.

All members will be invited to attend Annual General Meetings (AGM) and any Extraordinary General Meetings (EGM).

Members are entitled to vote on resolutions made at these meetings. They also have the right to bring forward proposals for change in the form of resolutions and to nominate and vote on the appointment of Directors for the Board.

Categories and Conditions of Membership.

There will be 4 categories of membership: Director Member; Driver Member; User Member and Honorary Member.

  1. Director Member. Membership is automatic and will cease when the Director ceases to be a director. Directors will be notified accordingly. There will be no charge for membership.

  2. Driver Member. Drivers are approved by the Directors and membership will be automatic. It will cease when the driver ceases to be a driver. Drivers will be notified accordingly. There will be no charge for membership.

Director Members and Driver Members are entitled to free membership. Membership is valid until the Member’s relevant role ceases or until the member informs us of their wish to relinquish membership by completing and signing a Membership Withdrawal Form and sending it to the CCT Secretary.

  1. User Member. The majority of CCT users are groups with similar needs or interest groups (groups of like-minded individuals from the local community). A User Member will automatically be deemed to be the person who represents the group. However, others in the group, who wish to be members may also apply. If, during the course of the year, a group’s representative changes they should notify the CCT Secretary.

A User Member will be charged an annual subscription of £1 annually. Membership is subject to approval by the Directors.

  2. Honorary Members enjoy life membership and will be appointed by the Directors. Honorary Members are likely to be people who have regularly supported, or continue to support CCT in a variety of ways.

Honorary Members are invited by the Directors to become lifelong members and will not be required to renew their membership annually.

Applying for and Registering User Membership

A letter, inviting group representatives and other members of their groups to become members and enclosing an application form and this information on membership rules, will be sent to all user groups on 1 January each year. The Membership Application Form will be found on the congresburycommunitytransport.co.uk website and will also be found on the back of the Blue Booking Form. A supply of these forms will be kept on the bus.

Applications for membership can be completed on the first trip of the year and the fee included in the cost of the trip or can be sent directly, together with the subscription of £1.00, to Mr Michael Sweeting, Treasurer, 29 Stonewell Lane, Congresbury. BS49 5DN.

A Director will always sign the form to confirm membership on behalf of all Directors. Once received by either the Driver Coordinator or Treasurer, forms will be passed to the Secretary who will add members’ names to the register.

The Secretary will monitor membership and report regularly to CCT Committee meetings on compliance with these rules.
