The bus is affectionately nicknamed “Bluey”. Bluey is a 16 seat Mercedes Benz mini-bus, acquired new in 2008. The bus has been built to a high specification, including air-conditioning, and is fully accessible for use by disabled people.

Bluey and a trained driver can be hired by local groups. The service is directed towards those who, through reasons such as disability or age, may be prevented from using other means of transport. However, the vehicle is also available for social trips, events and sporting occasions.

Congresbury Community Transport is run as a non-profit making charity and is staffed entirely by un-paid volunteers. This enables running costs and, therefore, hire charges to be kept at a minimum.

For information on booking Bluey, or indeed on how to become involved with CCT as a driver or helper, please contact Mike Rendu on:

Policies

Equal Opportunities

The Board of Directors recognises that everyone in society has a contribution to make with a right to equal treatment.

The Board of Directors has a duty to ensure that no Director, job applicant, staff member, volunteer, individual or group, to whom it provides a service, will in any way discriminate or be discriminated against or suffer harassment on the grounds of:

  • Race, nationality or ethnic origin

  • Gender or trans-gender status

  • Pregnancy

  •  Marital status

  •  Sexual orientation or preference

  •  Age

  •  Different abilities in relation to physical and mental health

  •  Political or religious belief

  •  Class or social background

  • Employment status

  • Unrelated criminal convictions.

Occasions may arise where legal duties under Equal Opportunity Legislation are in conflict with other duties (e.g. There is a minimum and a maximum age for minibus drivers). Where such conflicts arise, the Board of Directors will endeavour to be sympathetic to the needs of the individual. Specific conflicts may occur over such matters such as: Charity Commission Regulations, Public Liability Insurance, Minibus Driver Insurance and Protection of Children Act and Protection of Vulnerable Adults Act.

Any complaint of discrimination or harassment should be made in writing to the chairman of the Board of Directors, who will then follow the procedures in the Complaints Policy.
