Health & Safety Policy

The Board of Trustees recognises the importance of:
- Encouraging and developing Health & Safety awareness
- Recognising its responsibilities and duties
- Monitoring all its endeavours to ensure good and safe practice.
General Policy:
It is the intention of the Board of Trustees that when involved in any CCT activity, each trustee, staff member and volunteer will consider the health and safety of all individuals, groups and the general public at large. This duty of care cannot be delegated to a particular individual, although the Board may wish to give a specific trustee the role of Health & Safety Adviser.
The first duty is to set in place systems to monitor and identify (through Risk Assessment):
- All obvious risk areas and areas where there is a foreseeable source of danger
- Means of controlling the hazards that exist
- Inadequacies in existing procedures
- The need to take account of local conditions and circumstances
- The need to take account of existing practices, informal rules and customs and the attitudes and behaviour of all concerned
- Specific instructions issued by manufacturers and suppliers of equipment and materials, so that the recommended methods of use are used
- Where safety equipment and procedures are required, to include fire fighting, emergency and first aid.
The next duty is to ensure that all necessary actions to protect from harm are:
- Monitored by all individuals as part of every activity
- Implemented by motivating all concerned and by providing safety training
- Reported to the Board of Trustees
- Regularly monitored and recorded through annual Health & Safety Reports based on annual Health & Safety Inspections.
The Board of Trustees will ensure that all matters and actions taken concerning Health & Safety are fully recorded.
