Accountability and Transparency

The Board of Trustees recognises the importance of transparency in maintaining accountability to all its stakeholders (these include members, the local community, Congresbury Parish and North Somerset District Councils and the Charity Commission). This transparency will enable CCT to:

  • Demonstrate that its resources are being used wisely and for the stated purpose
  • Show that it is being organised and managed properly
  • Demonstrate that it is carrying out its activities efficiently and effectively
  • Attract new resources to enable it to continue and develop its activities.

 

The Annual Report and Annual Accounts will provide information to allow all stakeholders to assess the overall performance of CCT. These will meet the following criteria:

  • Compliance with the requirements of the Charity Commission’s “Statement Of Recommended Practice: Accounting & Reporting by Charities” regulations (SORP)
  • Provision of information to assist all stakeholders in understanding CCT’s structure, activities, achievements and outcomes
  • Provision of information to stakeholders to help them assess CCT’s effectiveness and performance
  • The availability of information to enable meaningful comparisons with other charities of a similar type.

 

The three key issues for transparency and accountability to be addressed are:

  • The type and amount of information provided.
  • The ways in which this information is made available.
  • The timelines with which this information is made available.

 

These three key issues will be dealt with in the Annual Report and Financial Statement presented to members at the AGM and made available to all other stakeholders, along with the written assessment of progress with the Business Action Plan’s 12 specific targets. Information will also be given concerning investments, review of accounting policies, include a summary of all funds available, and give details of current strategies and future plans.
