The bus is affectionately nicknamed “Bluey”. Bluey is a 16 seat Mercedes Benz mini-bus, acquired new in 2008. The bus has been built to a high specification, including air-conditioning, and is fully accessible for use by disabled people.

Bluey and a trained driver can be hired by local groups. The service is directed towards those who, through reasons such as disability or age, may be prevented from using other means of transport. However, the vehicle is also available for social trips, events and sporting occasions.

Congresbury Community Transport is run as a non-profit making charity and is staffed entirely by un-paid volunteers. This enables running costs and, therefore, hire charges to be kept at a minimum.

Objects and Actions

The Charity’s objects (“The Objects”) are specifically restricted to the following:

To provide relief and help to the people of Congresbury village and surrounding area, especially those who have need because of age, mental or physical disability, poverty or social isolation, in particular but not exclusively by:

  1. providing and maintaining non profit making community transport services

  2. assisting the charitable work of organisations and bodies engaged in promoting help for such persons by providing appropriate services

  3. contributing to mobility and working in the community in furtherance of the above.

Service Areas

Our objects will be met through the following activities. The chairman will report on the success of these activities at Annual General Meetings.

  1. Service Maintenance

  •  Provide and maintain a safe and roadworthy minibus

  •  Establish a team of volunteers responsible for the day to day maintenance of the minibus

  •  Recruit, train and manage a team of competent volunteer drivers

  •  Maintain and develop good relations with those who help us with garaging and periodic maintenance and repairs

  1. Research and Development

  • Regularly reassess the transport needs of people who fall within our objects and are existing users

  • Identify and offer the service to other people who fall within our objects

  • Review the service provided to those outwith our objects to ensure that those above are not disadvantaged

  • Review and assess the capability of CCT in terms of equipment and people in the light of the above

  1. Finance

  • Balance income and expenditure to ensure CCT remains viable in the long term

  • Use revenue grants and fees raised from hire of the minibus to subsidise the service for those who fall within our objects

  • Continue to ensure that groups falling outwith our objects pay an economic hire fee

  • Set aside sufficient funds to allow for the periodic replacement of the minibus

  •  Ensure that maximum use is made of available revenue and capital grants in the maintenance and replacement of the minibus
