The bus is affectionately nicknamed “Bluey”. Bluey is a 16 seat Mercedes Benz mini-bus, acquired new in 2008. The bus has been built to a high specification, including air-conditioning, and is fully accessible for use by disabled people.

Bluey and a trained driver can be hired by local groups. The service is directed towards those who, through reasons such as disability or age, may be prevented from using other means of transport. However, the vehicle is also available for social trips, events and sporting occasions.

Congresbury Community Transport is run as a non-profit making charity and is staffed entirely by un-paid volunteers. This enables running costs and, therefore, hire charges to be kept at a minimum.

For information on booking Bluey, or indeed on how to become involved with CCT as a driver or helper, please contact Mike Rendu on:

About Us

Description of Picture. There is an elected Committee of Trustees with an enthusiastic group of drivers and helpers. The drivers receive appropriate training through the MIDAS system which is endorsed by North Somerset Council.  A most important additional aspect of the training concerns the carrying of passengers in wheelchairs. This training is focussed on proper restraint systems being employed for the many and various types of wheelchairs in use.

The bus was supplied by Mercedes-Benz of Weston-super-Mare and converted by Courtside Conversions Ltd of Tiverton.  A great deal of research was done to ensure that the very best vehicle with first rate aids for the elderly, the visually handicapped and disabled passengers were incorporated into the vehicle. Even with the generous help from Mercedes-Benz of Weston-super-Mare and being zero rated for VAT purposes, some £49,000 has been spent on the vehicle.

Much fund raising was done locally. We receive the support of Congresbury Parish Council who contribute towards revenue costs. Community Action at Long Ashton provide both financial and valuable consultancy support. Holders of Congresbury have always generously supported the Mini Bus idea within the village and surrounding area by providing garaging, valeting and administrative support.

The capital cost has been generously supported with contributions from:
